Choose your format
- MP3 — the all-rounder. Plays on every phone, car and app. Start here if you’re not sure.
- MP3 at 320 kbps — the highest standard MP3 bitrate, for when you want the most an MP3 can give.
- M4A (AAC) — the native choice for iPhone and Apple Music; a touch more efficient than MP3.
- AAC — the same codec as M4A, delivered as a raw .aac stream for tools that want it.
- OGG (Vorbis) — the open, royalty-free format favoured by games and open-source apps.
- Opus — the modern codec with the best quality for its size — smallest files that still sound good.
- WAV — uncompressed PCM — large, but ideal for editing software.
- FLAC — lossless and tagged, about half the size of WAV — best for archiving.
- ALAC — Apple Lossless, in an .m4a — the lossless pick for the Apple ecosystem.
- Ringtone — cut a short clip and turn it into a phone ringtone.
Not sure which to pick? MP3 is the safe default and works everywhere. Want something specific — lossless for archiving, Opus for the smallest good-sounding file, or AAC/M4A for Apple devices? Each format above has its own page that explains, honestly, what it does and doesn’t do.
